Golly’s story.

One day, my Grandparents were sitting under the old Banyan tree halfway up the hill before the old community was established.

They were sitting there with their 3 sons, who are my father’s old brothers.

It was under that tree, that is still standing today. That was the first time that the boys have ever seen a white man.

They got scared because they have never seen a white person before, they came with a few indigenous fellows from Beagle bay.

They told my Grandparents that they wanted to colonize the area, n teach them about God.

My Grandfather was asked if he could walk the whole Bardi country coastline n tell everyone that the priest’s intentions were to build a small out camp so eventually one by one, family groups gradually came.
